2004 A3 LOCH EILT NEAR LOCHAILORT 2 |
|
Loch
Eilt, a few miles north of Glenfinnan on the A82, was used in The Prisoner
of Azkaban for the scene where Hagrid is skimming stones on the lake.
There are three or four of these small wooded islets on Loch Eilt, the
only ones in Scotland as far as I know. They escaped the destruction of
the native Caledonian Pine forests over 100 years ago because they were
too inconvenient for the loggers to get to. Before that, most of the north
of Scotland above the central belt was covered in this kind of forest.
